Core Banking Developer Roles and Responsibilities:

• Our client is seeking a motivated Developer to design, build, and evolve next-generation core banking products on modern, cloud-native platforms. You’ll play a key role in developing APIs and integrations, and delivering secure, scalable financial capabilities.
• This role is ideal for engineers with hands-on Thought Machine experience—or those with a strong background in modern core/ledger platforms—who understand financial systems, ledger integrity, and scalable architecture.

What is involved:

• Design and implement core banking product logic (accounts, deposits, lending, fees, interest, limits)
• Build robust, auditable ledger posting logic aligned with accounting principles
• Configure product lifecycles (onboarding, maturity, arrears, write-offs)
• Develop APIs and integration services across payments, KYC, CRM, fraud, and analytics systems
• Build event-driven integrations (Kafka or similar) with strong error handling and reconciliation
• Support data models and reporting for Finance, Risk, and Regulatory requirements
• Write comprehensive automated tests (unit, integration, reconciliation scenarios)
• Support CI/CD pipelines and controlled releases across environments
• Troubleshoot production issues with a focus on stability and root-cause analysis
• Partner with Product Owners and SMEs to translate banking requirements into scalable solutions
• Work closely with Risk and Security teams to ensure compliance and auditability

What you need:

• 5+ years building APIs and integration services in enterprise environments (banking preferred)
• Experience with Thought Machine Vault or similar modern core/ledger platforms
• Hands-on experience with financial product features (interest, fees, repayments, lifecycle events)
• Exposure to payments (SEPA, SWIFT), transaction monitoring, or card processing
• Strong programming experience (Python)
• Experience building REST/gRPC APIs and event-driven systems
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containers (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and production support

What’s on offer:
