Role and Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Architect to join a leading financial services organisation in Dublin, supporting the architecture, modernisation and evolution of critical payments and mainframe platforms.
What’s involved:
Define and deliver mainframe architecture and technology strategies across critical payments platforms.
Provide technical leadership for the design, development and modernisation of IBM Mainframe applications and services.
Analyse existing mainframe estates and identify opportunities for modernisation, optimisation and integration with modern technologies.
Work closely with development, infrastructure, application support and enterprise architecture teams.
Support the architecture of high-volume, high-availability payment processing systems.
Provide architectural direction around application integration, data flows, interfaces and batch processing.
Assess legacy COBOL applications and contribute to modernisation, migration or transformation initiatives.
What you need:
Strong commercial experience as a Mainframe Architect / Mainframe Technical Architect / Senior Mainframe Engineer.
Extensive experience across IBM Mainframe environments.
Previous professional experience with COBOL – this can be earlier in the candidate's career and does not need to be their primary current skill.
Strong understanding of mainframe application architecture and legacy application estates.
Experience working with payments, banking, financial services or transaction processing environments.
Knowledge of CICS, DB2, JCL and VSAM.
Strong understanding of batch processing and online transaction processing.
Experience with mainframe integration and interfaces with distributed/cloud platforms.
Understanding of application modernisation, legacy transformation and/or mainframe migration strategies.
