SQL Server DBA Roles and Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will join an existing team to support the management and optimisation of clients’ database environments.
What is involved:
- Manage and maintain on-prem SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and backups.
- Work with supporting technologies such as storage, Active Directory, Always On, and Failover Clustering.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and SQL scripting.
- Handle incident, problem, and event management to minimise downtime and ensure fast resolution.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and produce clear documentation.
- Optimise database performance using monitoring tools and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the design, setup, and configuration of database environments across online, batch, and reporting workloads.
What you need:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as an on-prem Microsoft SQL Server DBA.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server administration, HA/DR, and virtualisation (VMWare/Hyper-V).
- Experience with Azure SQL Database & Azure data services
- Solid experience with automation scripting and performance tuning
- Familiar with Microsoft IDE’s, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps/GIT
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex issues efficiently.
- Ability to work in a service-oriented environment with SLAs, prioritisation, and customer service desk interactions.
